These are estimates, not exact figures. Built from publicly available rates, not a quote for your situation. Do your own research and confirm with the ATO, your state revenue office and a licensed professional before you buy.

What it costs in each state

Stamp duty is set by each state and territory, and which one applies depends on where the car is registered. Check with your state revenue office.

About these prices
About these prices: every price here is a new-car price, the launch price before on-road costs. It isn’t what the car is worth today. Most cars lose value once they’re used and a few rare ones gain it, so a used price can be very different. Luxury car tax and stamp duty use today’s rates, so for an older car this shows its new price under today’s taxes, not what buyers paid at the time.
